Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies

IMG_20150221_091937

I have baked and ate Chocolate Chips cookies for as long as I can remember.    I really wanted something different.   So as usual, I tried something new and decided to add cream cheese to the recipe.  I am so glad I did.   They came out chewy and crunchy at the same time.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to prepare

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl combine the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  3. Add sugars, egg, vanilla and mix on medium-high speed until creamy and fluffy.
  4. In another bowl combine the flour, corn starch, baking soda, salt and stir with a spoon until ingredients are incorporated.
  5. Pour about 1/2 cup of dry ingredients at a time into the wet mixture.  Repeat this process until all dry ingredients are used.
  6. Fold in by hand the chocolate chips and pecans.
  7. Place on a cookie sheet, 2 tablespoon cookie dough, spacing about 2 inches apart.  Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Set on cookie rack to cool.
  9. Store in a airtight container.

Enjoy!
